The Expert Modules cover the subjects of business management, digital image publication, studio photography and photo reportage. The four weeks combine theory, practice and the completion of a personal project under the guidance of their supervisor. For those enrolled in several consecutive modules, there is a one-week overlap period. Courses are scheduled so as to permit participants to follow both modules.
:: Courses: -> MODULE 1.1: ADVANCED STUDIO PHOTOGRAPHY - May 25 June 19, 2009 (part-time) Participants encounter professional work situations, preparing complex studio sets, focusing on elaborate make-up, hairdressing and accessories. The module also presents a range of expert skills used in commercial photography: shooting with integrated digital post-production, specific retouching (culinary, skin, jewelry etc.), exterior studio shooting. Several meetings will be held at professionals’ workplaces. -> MODULE 1.2: ADVANCED PHOTO REPORTAGE - May 25 June 19, 2009 (part-time) Photojournalism is analyzed from the point of view of agencies, dailies, magazines, and independent photographers. Participants meet professionals working in the fields of image purchase, sales and editing within various kinds of media (print and web). Through these exchanges, they learn how to position themselves and to efficiently prepare their entry into the professional world. Several meetings will be held at professionals’ workplaces. -> MODULE 2: WORKING AS A PHOTOGRAPHER - June 15 July 19, 2009 (part-time) Different experts present the business management of all kinds of activities linked to professional photography. The module gives an overview of the photographic professions and the market, copyright legislation, marketing, team management, accounting and financial management within the field of photography. -> MODULE 3: IMAGE MANAGEMENT AND PUBLICATION - July 6 July 31, 2009 (part-time) This module allows participants to deepen their knowledge in the domains of image management and publication (print and web): the management of an image stock is presented from the point of view of various independent photographers, photo agencies and image banks. Participants also encounter picture researchers/image buyers working for the press (publishing houses and advertising agencies). Throughout the module, they acquire in-depth knowledge about the various possibilities as well as the different softwares how to manage their own image stocks (“digital asset management”).
